In January 2019, TerraCycle announced its newest initiative, Loop, a global circular shopping system that enables brands, retailers, and consumers to transition from single-use disposable materials to reusable, durable packaging, washed by Loop and refilled by the brands. Loop has engaged many of the world's largest consumer product companies (including P&G, Nestlé, Unilever, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, and Mondēlez) and many of the world’s largest retailers in this platform. Loop went live in May 2019 in two major markets, one in Europe (Paris) and one in the US (NY,NJ, PA). In July 2020, Loop launched in the UK in partnership with Tesco while announcing plans to expand to Japan, Australia, and Canada.

Job Overview –

We are looking for a resourceful and driven professional, who will be responsible for overseeing TerraCycle’s marketing, branding, social media, public relations, campaign promotion, market research, and marketing-related customer relationship and engagement activities in Europe. The successful candidate will work directly with the existing marketing and creative teams to develop the European marketing strategy for TerraCycle’s lines of business (LOB) and create successful marketing content for our brand partners.

The ideal candidate will have a broad (end-to-end) knowledge of traditional and digital marketing and public relations. They will be able to define key priorities and find the right resources to advance TerraCycle’s business, working in conjunction with GM and global teams. This role will report to our General Manager & Global VP of Creative & Communications and will be based in our West London office in Perivale (remote during COVID).

Primary Responsibilities –

  • Collaborate with the GM and global Sr. leader in setting, communicating, and driving organisational marketing and creative strategy
  • Develop and implement a European integrated strategic communications plan to advance TerraCycle’s brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences in order to attract new business, increase incremental revenue and ensure renewals
  • Manage multiple discipline teams of marketing, communications, public relations, social media, customer service, web and visual art
  • Provide input for the e-commerce platform, as well as other e-commerce related technology and operations solutions (i.e. email provider, analytics tools, customer service, etc.)
  • Develop a strategy and implement a proactive process to drive e-commerce sales results, grow the audience size and increase the level of engagement
  • Create engaging content for website pages that encourage participation and product sales
  • Monitor marketing benchmarks and adjust strategy to hit sales and engagement goals
  • Plan, deploy and measure marketing demand generation activities that increase awareness and ultimately drive new business
  • Utilise email communication, social media campaigns and public relations to increase sales and further increase the audience for the business. Leverage consumer insights when developing marketing strategy/plan
  • Know the latest marketing trends in order to continually improve the marketing strategy
  • Manage TerraCycle’s EU Corporate communications working closely with the global team
  • Develop company’s brand voice and maintain brand integrity across all platforms
  • Develop crisis and reputation management communications plans when required
  • Direct management of PR, Marketing and Customer Service teams

Requirements/Skills –

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in business, marketing, communications or a related field); MBA preferred
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in a senior management role, holding progressively responsible positions in marketing and communications for corporate, and/or agency organisations
  • Fluency in English and French is essential, any other European languages will be a added bonus
  • Proven leadership and team management skills derived from having direct responsibility for building and managing large, diverse, cohesive high-performing team
  • Ability to set matrixed global strategies, while also being adaptable to change
  • Proven ability to execute complex projects and negotiations
  • Understanding of data and knowing how to use it to make recommendations to teams
  • Proactive in developing and implementing marketing initiatives
  • Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and prioritisation skills
  • Creative and analytical thinker and problem solver who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritise and oversee multiple projects at once, have attention to detail and work well with cross functional teams
  • Timeline-driven with a strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines
